Long Distance House Removals from Farnham, Surrey to Newton upon Derwent, York
Long distance house move UK
The AM Removals team recently completed a full house move in Farnham in Surrey for a family relocating to the York area. The job included packing fragile items, dismantling furniture and transporting everything safely to the new property. This was a pretty long trip – it’s around 250 miles from Farnham up to Newton Upon Derwent – it took about a 4.5 hour drive (plus stops!).
Moving Challenges?
The house in Farnham was a four bedroom house and the move (with meticulous planning) all took place on the same day! Of course, with the help of the family moving, we made sure that everything was prepared as much in advance as possible – and everything was labelled correctly for when it arrived in Newton Upon Derwent, a beautiful little village about 8 miles from York.
A bit about Newton Upon Derwent!
Newton Upon Derwent has been established a long, long time (almost as long as A&M Removals!). Although people lived in Newton upon Derwent as far back as the 1400s, none of the original houses still exist or were recorded, so we don’t know what they actually looked like. Most of the buildings you see today were likely rebuilt in brick around the Enclosures in the 1760s, replacing older wooden and thatched homes and shaping the village as it is now. That’s when it got it’s name of ‘New Town’ (‘Newton’)!
